Pula and the Roman Amphitheatre

Pula is the largest town in Istria. Its long history is written all over its architectural remains and monuments. This is what makes you fall in love with it. Pula went from being a military harbor, base, and shelter to a place where five thousand people listen to their favorite artists and watch movies in the Roman amphitheater today.

 

Join me on this tour to explore the traces of many empires that ruled here. Dive deeper into ancient history and roam around the arena where gladiators used to fight. We’ll grab a coffee at Forum Square and see the Temple of Augustus and the Hercules Gate on our way there.

Bale is the best-kept secret in Istria and I’m going to reveal it to you.

 

This small settlement is made entirely out of stone. It’s located near the sea, between Rovinj and Pula. However, it’s easy to miss. The town produces the world’s finest extra-virgin olive oils. You might want to reconsider skipping it.

 

Bale is by far one of the most authentic places to visit in Istria. It’s where we escape from crowded Rovinj to enjoy nature and grab a drink. However, personally, it holds a special spot in my heart. It’s where my grandma was born and now that she’s gone, I carry on her memories by telling stories from her hometown.
